Bolsa Supply is a Southern California based brand dedicated to providing high-quality tools and accessories for custom keyboard enthusiasts.

Their mission is to support both newcomers and seasoned builders in the mechanical keyboard community by offering thoughtfully designed products that enhance the building experience.

They offer custom mechanical keyboards, parts, accessories, and all-in-one kits.

Objective:

Bolsa Supply set out to create an artisan tray that felt more intentional than the typical display block. An artisan keycap tray that was functional, minimal, and modular. They wanted the pen tray to be removable and offered in multiple finishes. With the tray itself available in standout colorways and materials beyond just anodized aluminum.

Challenges:

Design an intentional and multifunctional artisan keycap tray.
Offer a wide enough variety of finishes that still felt cohesive.
Prototype quickly and validate usability, fit, and finish.

Outcome:

To push beyond industry norms, we produced trays in both CNC-machined 6063 aluminum and solid walnut wood. Breaking away from expected materials and offering a warmer, natural contrast to the typical metal aesthetic. The minimalist angled tray with a precision-milled pen rail channel.

The finishes for the aluminum options offered are PVD and e-coated finishings alongside standard anodizing for a more unique visual and tactile feel. Foundry Labs coordinated with multiple partners to ensure consistency across both metal and wood SKUs.
