Client Overview:
Walnuts is a contemporary microroastery and cafe space based in Tokyo, Japan. Simply, they're doing their best to create specialty coffee that anyone can enjoy.
Supporting the industry, providing transparency, and making good coffee; as they spread their roots, their intentions remain the same.
A place with coffee as thoughtful as you. A small but humble space created for those in need of quiet, a place to breathe. In an intimate and comforting setting, delicately brewed specialty coffee, natural wine, and in-house baked goods are compliments to that end. Although small, this is a place they are happy to call our own, and they are very proud to share it with you.
Objective:
Walnuts was in need of their own branded tasting cards.
Challenges:
Designing a tasting card that reflects the Walnuts brand.
Nailing down what their brand is and feels like to the customer.
Presenting a lot of information in a tasteful way.

Outcome:
Working with Walnuts we designed a tasting card that holds some of that Mid Century Modern design that exists in their cafe. Pulling the brown color in to relate to the warm wood tones and coffee beans.
They wanted to highlight the name of the beans and nod to the farmers who grew the beans. And from there highlight the different tasting notes and finer details.
The backside is easily recognizable as their cafe building without also being information heavy. Both sides balance each other out.
Key Achievements:
Designing a template that evokes the same energy as their cafe.
Creating a card that is easily readable and mindful of the potential information dump.
Has visual distinction from other cafe competitors.
